Rackspace Flex Cloud

A basic introduction to Rackspace Flex Cloud

What is Rackspace Flex Cloud?

Rackspace Flex Cloud is our on-demand, multi-tenant, OpenStack based cloud platform that is designed to provide safe and reliable infrastructure-as-a-service. Rackspace Flex Cloud allows users to deploy applications in a secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud that aligns with industry standards for security and compliance. With Rackspace Flex Cloud, users can harness the power of open standards, avoid vendor lock-in, and leverage robust community support all while ensuring compliance with critical guidelines for operating systems.

NOTE: OpenStack is an open-source cloud platform that enables organizations to build and manage private and public clouds. It provides a set of modular services for computing, networking, and storage, allowing users to deploy and manage virtual machines, networks, and storage resources efficiently. Designed for scalability and flexibility, OpenStack is widely used in data centers and enterprise IT environments to create cloud infrastructure similar to AWS or Azure but with full control and customization.

Flexibility is a major component of Rackspace Flex Cloud, hence the name. This flexibility gives the users the ability to design their own private network architecture to create a more secure and performant environment. Users can also configure a logical router that has the power to provide Layer 3 and NAT forwarding capability to provide external network access for VMs on your private network. On top of the networking flexibility, users of Rackspace Flex Cloud also can make use of the multiple storage back-ends that are available to handle workloads of all shapes and sizes.

Rackspace Flex Cloud helps to eliminate the headaches of operating cloud infrastructure by providing users with a complete technology stack, extensive APIs and CLIs, a GUI based control panel, 24x7x365 support, and comprehensive monitoring and management to maintain the health of the platform.
