Configure a renamed email address on iPhone iOS

After renaming a Rackspace Email address, your devices receive new email only after you configure them to connect to the new email address. This article describes how to update the settings for a renamed email address on your iPhone or iPad.

Configure Mail Settings

The following steps use general settings for iPhone/iPad iOS and might vary across iOS versions.

Important: For your IMAP folders (Sent, Deleted) to sync properly, ensure you complete the steps in the Configure IMAP Folder Sync Settings section immediately after configuring the account.

1. On the home screen, tap the Settings icon.

2. In the Settings menu, tap Apps, and then tap Mai Accountl.

3. Tap on Mail Accounts and tap the account you need to update.

4. Tap Account Settings.

5. Update the Emailfield under IMAP to your renamed Rackspace Email address.

6. Under Incoming Mail Server update the User Name field to your renamed Rackspace Email Address. Tap SMTP, tap the secure.emailsrvr.com server name and update the User Name field to your renamed Rackspace Email Address.

7. Verify the following settings for both incoming and outgoing mail servers:

   • Incoming server settings:

     • Host Name: secure.emailsrvr.com
     • User Name: Your renamed Rackspace Email address
     • Password: Your mailbox password

   • Outgoing server settings:

     • Host Name: secure.emailsrvr.com
     • User Name: Your renamed Rackspace Email address
     • Password: Your mailbox password

     Warning: The outgoing server fields may initially display "Optional." Do not skip this step. You must enter the outgoing server information for your email to function properly.

8. Tap Done or Saveto apply the changes.

Note: Rackspace Email can synchronize mail. If you need to synchronize Contacts and Calendar items to your mobile device, consider upgrading to Rackspace Email Plus.

Configure IMAP Folder Sync Settings

1. On the Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts screen, tap the account that you just updated.

2. Under Account Settings, tap Advanced.

3. Under MAILBOX BEHAVIORS, tap Sent Mailbox.

• Tap Sent Mailbox, and under ON THE SERVER, tap the Sent folder.
• Tap Deleted Mailbox, and under ON THE SERVER, tap the Deleted folder.

5. On the Advanced screen, ensure that the option MOVE DISCARDED MESSAGES INTO is set to Deleted Mailbox. This ensures that deleted messages go to the correct folder.
6. Go back to the home screen and launch the Mail app. Your email should appear within minutes, depending on the number of items.
   Note: If you have a large mailbox, it might take longer for the email to appear. Wait at least 15 minutes before troubleshooting.
