Service Transition FAQ - Managed Backup to Rackspace Data Protection

Question: Will there be a change to my bill as a result of backups transitioning to Rackspace Data Protection?

Answer: No. This service transition will not affect the terms of your existing contract.

Question: Can I still request a restore from the old backups after backups are transitioned to Rackspace Data Protection?

Answer: Yes. All backups will still be retained through their original retention settings. Restores from the legacy product will remain possible until that data ages off.

Question: Will there be overlap with the backup products?

Answer: Both products will not run concurrently. Legacy Managed Backups will be disabled once Rackspace Data Protection begins. The Commvault agent will remain installed on servers after they have been cutover to Rackspace Data Protection to facilitate restores of legacy data.

Question: Will this service transition impact my servers?

Answer: We do not anticipate the service transition to have a negative impact on servers. Software can be installed without the need for a reboot. Generally, we expect Rackspace Data Protection powered by Cohesity to have a positive effect on server resource utilization. Incremental forever technology means that there is no need to run a true full each week, which cuts down runtime and resources significantly.

Question: Will my backup schedule change?

Answer: Backups will run at the same cadence. There may be slight adjustments to backup timing, of less than a few hours, but generally the backup policies will be at parity when migrated to Rackspace Data Protection.

Question: Are backups encrypted with Rackspace Data Protection?

Answer: Rackspace Data Protection encrypts data in flight and at rest. There is no additional charge for encryption, as it is an inherent part of Rackspace Data Protection.
