Add Domains With the Rackspace Email Control Panel

This article explains how to add a domain in your Cloud Office Control Panel.

Prerequisites

  • Tools required: Rackspace Email Control Panel access

Add Domains

  1. Log in to the Rackspace Email Control Panel.

  2. Click Domains under the Domains section.

  3. Click Add Domain.

  4. Enter the domain name in the Domain Name field, and then select one of the following options to proceed:

Option 1: I Own This Domain (Use External DNS)

Choose this option to continue using your current domain registrar and DNS hosting company. You will only need to point your MX records to Rackspace servers.

  1. Select the services you would like to include on the domain, and then click Save.

  2. Create mailboxes.

  3. Set up DNS records for Rackspace Email to start receiving email at Rackspace.

Option 2: I Own This Domain (Rackspace Hosts DNS)

Choose this option if you want to keep your current domain registrar but have Rackspace host your DNS records.

  1. Select the services you would like to include on the domain, and then click Save.

  2. Create mailboxes.

  3. Set up DNS records for Rackspace Email.

  4. Critical: Configure your DNS records in the Rackspace Email Control Panel BEFORE you change the Name Server records to avoid any interruption of service. After configuration, update the Name Server records at your registrar to the following:

    Primary: DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM
    Secondary: DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM
    Secondary: DNS3.NAME-SERVICES.COM
    Secondary: DNS4.NAME-SERVICES.COM
    Secondary: DNS5.NAME-SERVICES.COM

Option 3: Register a New Domain with Rackspace

Choose this option if you want to register a new domain and have Rackspace host your DNS records. Rackspace charges an annual renewal fee for this service.

  1. Select the services you would like to include on the domain, and then click Save.

  2. Confirm your purchase by clicking Register Domain.

  3. A verification email confirming your domain purchase is sent to the email address on record. You must click the verification link in the email within 15 days to avoid any disruption to your domains.   4. Create mailboxes.

  5. Set up DNS records for Rackspace Email to start receiving email.
