Adding a Public IPv4 to a RackConnectv3 Server

Adding public IPv4 addresses on a RCv3 VM.

By default - RackConnectv3 Servers do not have public IP addresses associated with them after creation. If you want to add a public IP address to your RackConnected VM you need to add it manually. You can use either the API or the Customer Portal to add the IP address.

This guide will walk you through adding the IPv4 address using the Customer Portal.

Log into the Customer Portal

  1. Log in to the Cloud Control Panel
  2. In the top navigation bar, click Select a Product > Rackspace Cloud.

Navigate to the Cloud Servers Section

  1. Click Servers from the toolbar
  2. Click Cloud Servers from the list of options
  3. Click the server from the list that you want to add the Public IPv4 address to.

Provisioning the Public IP

  1. From the Server Details page scroll down until you see a RackConnect Details section.

  2. Click the 'Provision a Public IP' link as shown below.

  3. You can enter a specific IP address from your dedicate IP block if you know what you want it to be. Otherwise you can leave the box blank and RackConnect will automatically assign a new public IP address from one of your Dedicated IP blocks add the appropriate translation (NAT) to your Edge Network Device.

  4. After you make your decision click Provision Public IP

  5. After about 3-5 minutes you should see the IP address populated in the portal.
