Q What benefits does the Hyper-V platform offer?
A 1. Root access to the hypervisor server is in the Minimal Server Interface, including Server Manager and all
Microsoft Management Consoles (MMCs). You can manage the hypervisor remotely over the VPN via Remote
Serve Admin Tools (RAST) and UNC Path.
2.The individual licensing model allows you to provision unlimited Windows VM’s on the hypervisor.
Rackspace only supports image level backups.

Q Does Hyper-V have all of the features of ESX?
A Yes, the only feature that does not come with Hyper-V is the equivalent of DRS. Key highlights:
1. Flexible upgrade options.
2. Hyper-V scales to 1,024 VM’s per host and 64 physical nodes per cluster.
3. VM’s can scale to 64 vCPU, 1TB RAM, and 64TB VHDX to a single VM.
4. For high I/O MSQL servers, you can hard set RAM and enable NUMA.

Q What is the minimum number of hypervisors for Microsoft Hyper-V?
A 1 hypervisor minimum - (1 compute)

Q How are backups handled?
A All VMs that are supported by Hyper-V and have integration drivers installed, supported by Rackspace Support or unsupported, are backed up by using the Hyper-V Comm Vault Agent.

Q Does Rackspace have a virtual desktop infrastruction (VDI) offering?
A No. While both Hyper-V and ESX have components and features that enable VDI and might be supported at the HYP layer, the Rackspace does not support VDI.

Q Can I convert from ESX and what is the process?
A We have Disk2VHD for Hyper-V only with no root access to the ESX HYP, or we also have Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter v3.0.
